Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
I found this article by Kevin DeYoung to be quite interesting and a good summary of the different positions in mainstream “Christianity”. In the book of second Corinthians, chapter 4, verse 2, the Apostle Paul talks about the refusal of the practice of tampering with the Word of God. In this article, DeYoung displays three views on how the Word of God is perceived and points out how two of these positions are doing exactly what Paul describes what Christians should not be doing. I’ll think you will find that the “intentions of the heart” of each of these positions will also be displayed. If we think about it, the Word of God is theopneustos or God-Breathed. How can we, imperfect, fallible, fallen creatures, build on the Word of God? Food for thought.
